Ohmistiry performed comprehensive transformer servicing and oil centrifuging for a 5 MVA power transformer at Spectra International, restoring insulation quality and ensuring safe, efficient power supply for the facility.

Scope of Work

• Visual inspection of transformer tank, bushings, radiators, and conservator
• Transformer oil sampling and dielectric strength (BDV) testing
• Oil centrifuging to remove moisture, sludge, and particulate contamination
• Oil filtration and reconditioning post-centrifuging
• HV/LV terminal connection tightening
• Insulation resistance (IR) and winding resistance testing
• Buchholz relay and pressure relief device checks
• Earthing continuity inspection
• Thermal imaging to detect hotspots
• Final load and performance testing

Result
Oil centrifuging improved the transformer's dielectric strength and insulation performance, extending equipment life and protecting Spectra International against unplanned power failures.
